Thoughts

This is Johnny - we qualified for a final in what was the Smirnoff Shootout to be held at Enniskillen Golf Club - arrived at the Killyhevlin Hotel and made our way to play the course as we had never seen it before. The weather was fantastic and we stood on the first tee in our shorts and polo shirts. Four holes was enough and we retired to the bar for a few pints before returning to the hotel for dinner and a few more drinks. Before we knew it, it was almost midnight and the hotel bar was closing - Johnny being Johnny said the night was young and we should sneak into the wedding reception which of course we did entering from the open glass doors overlooking the beautiful view. Johnny mingled with the crowd as he did so well and we made our way to the bar to get a drink. That’s us now Johnny we’re in no problem!! to which he replied - not sure we will get away with this - why I replied, I don’t see too many other’s at the wedding wearing shorts. That’s the Johnny I will always remember - we even went on to win by about 5 shots the next day. Miss you terribly mate - until we meet again on the open fairways in the sky.

Johnny Packham, darling son of Will and Eileen, died 7th August 2023, leaving us lost and broken. Left with memories of wonderful times full of fun and laughter. There was no party too grand, no celebration too special, that Johnny wasn’t happy to organise. Deeply missed, so remembered with unspeakable love.

Van Gogh (for Johnny) I never cared about Van Gogh, You see, he and I weren't friends. He never picked me up off the bar-room floor and carried me home at evening's end. No, I never cared about Van Gogh And you were never able to paint. But my heart is shattered sideways, Cos where you always were, you ain't.
